# Hosted

> Signing in, what the free tier includes, the install snippet, and how billing works when we run the relay.

Hosted means we run the relay and you point the widget at it. No infrastructure, no deploy, no
Cloudflare account. If you would rather run it yourself, start at
[Get started](/) or [Self-hosting on Node](/self-hosting-node).

## Signing in

Sign in with GitHub or Google at [app.burnsidesteps.com](https://app.burnsidesteps.com). There is
no password to choose and none for us to lose.

**Both providers reach the same account.** We link accounts by verified email, so if you sign in
with GitHub today and Google next month, and both report the same verified address, you land in the
same account with the same projects and the same subscription. You cannot accidentally create a
second account, or pay twice, by picking the other button.

## The free tier is real

Signing in gives you a working account with no card and no trial clock:

* Three projects
* Every destination: Linear, GitHub, GitLab
* Screenshots, annotation, console capture, tags
* Screenshots kept for 90 days
* A small "Powered by Burnside Steps" badge on the widget

Nothing expires. If three projects is enough, that is a permanent home rather than an evaluation.

## Your first project

Create a project in the dashboard, connect a destination, and copy the install snippet. It looks
like this:

**Copy it from the dashboard rather than typing it.** The `data-relay` value carries a path segment
scoped to your account, and that is the part people get wrong when they write the tag by hand. Every

## Upgrading

Paid hosting is $99 a year, or $12 a month. It lifts the project limit, removes the badge, unlocks
per-project theming, and keeps screenshots until you delete them instead of for 90 days. The same
entitlements as a self-hosted [Pro licence](/pro-licence), on infrastructure you do not run.

Upgrade from the dashboard, where the control reads **Go Pro**. Once you are on a paid plan that
same control becomes **Manage
subscription**, which opens Stripe's billing portal where you can change your card, read invoices,
or cancel. Cancelling stops the next renewal.

## Deleting your account

The dashboard deletes your account, every project, and all stored screenshots, and cancels an
active subscription. What we hold and what survives deletion is set out on the
[privacy page](https://burnsidesteps.com/privacy).
